Still, this is pretty sweet, man!
Off topic, you just don't see anybody sealing letters like this anymore... then again, you don't see anyone sending letters (and I mean personal, hand-written letters of either some cordial or romantic nature... not "junk mail") through snail-mail anymore... which is kinda sad. :\
Heh, then again, the post office (at least here in the US), would probably throw some sort of a fit if they find their expensive processing machines getting gummed-up with random bits and pieces of wax. XD
And about your off topic: it's a bit obvious that no one is using this method anymore, it takes so much time to seal a letter. First light a candle, than holding a spoon above it for a couple of minutes to melt wax inside, and than pour and stamp it... I guess the total time for a seal will be... somewhere between 5-7 minutes. That's no match for the modern lick and stick letters
btw, I work at our dutch mail, and once saw the machines that sort mail. Those seals are filtered out way before they will ever reach the machine because they are too thick. And if they ever go through them they won't really gum up. Once the wax is cooled down it's more like plastic, it's melting point is quite high
(but I think the mail won't be happy as those letters need to be sort by humans since they can't go inside the machines
